good god. i've FINALLY found my login name/password.

with all of the other crap i try to remember, THIS is a miracle.

well, here it is. a POST. i suppose this is the part where i mention the unmentionables and rant about the unfairness of it all. or not.

admittedly, i'm still figuring this whole thing out. do i dare go "public"? shall i be selective? bah. who knows...

i don't even remember WHY i signed up for this. i have a blog on myspace. i write on it occasionally. (myspace: Pennywhistle Galore OR www.myspace.com/twobitmoneybags).

granted, myspace is owned by the DEVIL, and i chide myself soundly when i sign on, but it is a fantastic way to keep several people within a cyber-arm's reach. when i signed up for "MySpace" (as opposed to "OurSpace", "YourSpace", or the less popular "RealSpace") i had no idea what to expect, or gain from it.
i'm still looking for validation.

Now i ask, gentle reader, where do i find validation in a livejournal account? is this yet another self-indulgent episode with summer reruns? is this a venue for intelligent commentary? perhaps a sounding board for 'lively' discussion? or is just another blog?

i will happily accept advice/suggestions/hatemail/comments/limericks/recipes from anyone who has the time or inclination. ASSIGNMENT: why is a livejournal account better than a 'myspace' blog'?

i'm waiting...

LiveJournal is better than MySpace because it's ... um ... alive? And the other place is just space?

No, wait, it's because we love you more than those MySpace people do. In fact, they're secretly plotting your demise.

In fact, it's not even secret, you just haven't come across their plans yet.

In fact, they're not even people. They're ferrets. Twisted, angry, venomous ferrets. Of the killing variety.

Really, you should just hang out over here. You'll be much happier.

Functionality is huge. LJ doesn't make you jump through five or six preview pages to get to your home page.

Also, the Friends Page is far and away more convenient than MySpace has it set up...instead of having to click through all of your MySpace contacts to see if anything's new, you can look at the Friends page and see everybody in order. One-stop shopping.

i understand that perusing my friends' pages is 'easier' on LJ, and this might be more important to me if i had more than 4 friends. my hesitation stems from the fact that i have already set up a fairly large network on myspace, and don't want to create more work for myself by attending to BOTH spaces. sigh. i miss seeing people in real-life.

i don't think either one is "better".

well.

actually, i think livejournal is really *way* superior...but that's besides the point. although myspace is the evil empire of internet network connections, if you have an extensive network already set up through that source, then why not use it? I've seen livejournal be used for a multitude of things from emotional outpourings, to keeping people posted on a daily (or hourly) basis, to purely friendship networking, to not posting on it at all and just using it to see what is going on in other peoples lives...and much more. (i sound like a commercial, don't i?)

you'll figure out how it is most useful to you...but really. what's the harm in keeping them both?

even if you only check your lj account once per month, you may find that you really like it for some specific purpose in the future...

personally, i like lj better than myspace because it has proven to be *WAY* more friendly, user friendly and generally a better way for me to keep in touch with people.

but it may be different for you. you know?

well, there's my two dollars and twenty two cents.

i leave you with a Haiku:

******
she used her keyboard
to connect with the peoples
then, burnination!
******

just remember. trogdor is always near.
